The weather
channel and the news reports give nothing but heavy rains in Cedar City, UT and
the southern part of Utah. Here in the north we might get some thunderstorms
too now. Having this on her mind, my woman tries to leave early. It’s Sunday
again… very calm on the streets. At Center street we notice they took away a
whole block of buildings, except the outside walls of the church, which is also
standing on pillars in this big huge pit. Wonder what will be built here! We
are on US 89 South again and wonder oh wonder… next to the juvenile detention
center they are still working on the road.
Again, we wonder what has to be done
here, since everything looks perfectly okay! It is nice to cycle on a Sunday
morning when traffic is low. My woman’s mind is slipping away and we almost
miss the turn to Spanish Fork. The sky still looks okay when we reach the
K-mart and yes we get to go on a shopping trip! The cashier wants to give us a
K-Mart shopping card, but after we gave all the info, she finally couldn’t make
it because my woman has no American phone number (she said). Back outside the
clouds were kind of agreeing on becoming thunderclouds: big fluffy white and
some black ones in between. All right, now we had to go into a higher gear if
we want to arrive before the storm hits us. We pass the Sri Sri Radha Krishna
Temple, which looks a bit strange in these surroundings here. And soon we reach
Payson. Now a difficult choice: first go to Dalton’s for a lunch or go to the
motel…I ask her to go to Dalton’s (and watch out for those nails here!) but
when we get there the place is closed – it’s Sunday! There is nothing more to
do then than go to the motel before the rain starts. There my boss works a bit
on the computer. Later that day – as we head out to get a sandwich at Subway –
the promised thunderstorm finally reaches us. Good thing we are inside!
