Tuesday, July 16th: Jackson Hole, WY or…a ride with the Looser Cruiser

Boy was it quiet this morning! Even the birds had nothing to tell to each other. My woman took us to breakfast at the grocery store: bagel and banana work very good! The sky did not look too friendly today: rain or thunderstorms coming up! Right out of Colter Bay we got caught up in the road work: new black pavement... It’s funny how road works makes cycling go faster (at least it looks as if  it’s going faster). My woman took us to Jackson Lake Lodge, just to get some information about the shuttle us in the park and before she knew she had a pass in her hand and could go for free on the shuttle. Looking at the sky, this wasn’t such a crazy idea. As soon as my woman had all the bags off Sweet Machine, the bus drove into the parking lot. The driver had problems opening the back where the bike should go and he said: “Just take the bike inside in the pathway”. So I got to see Teton National Park through a bus window. My woman had time to scratch my head, once in a while. Grey seemed to be the theme of the day: the sky, the mountains and even the sage was green-greyish. We got to Jackson Hole after a long ride on the bus with 3 passengers. The driver was very helpful getting the bicycle and all the luggage back out. All right, time for shopping, my woman said. Some rain drops were trying to fall down, but there was no big downpour. We looked at all the nice things in some shops, my woman tried some dresses on (they were a bit too pricy!) and we thought about our friends at home and bought some presents. At the Buckrail Lodge we got the same room as last year. Laundry was our next chore. We had to cycle to a Laundromat on Broadway: the machines there were working with a card – so you first had to buy a card and then put the card into the washing machine. My woman had a good talk with a Canadian woman who was biking the Continental Divide with her husband – from Mexico to home in Calgary, she said. With clean clothes my woman went to the wholesome grocery store – to get some local, fresh food. Back in the room, we ate and updated our blog.
